Hi friends and family! It's been a few weeks since I've last posted - it's been kind of a busy few weeks.
Out trip to UT/MT was incredible and went by way too fast! (see pics below)
While we were visiting my family in UT, our cat, Bug would NOT leave Rich alone. He wasn't rubbing up all against him or anything, but Bug just likes to be as close to people as he can without them touching him or without him touching them. So Bug planted himself right behind Rich (who is allergic). He was one of Bug's favorite human visitors because Rich never touched him (because he couldn't) but allowed Bug to get as close as he wanted. I thought it was hilarious!
We of course enjoyed some real Mexican food. Mi Ranchito <3 <3 <3
And some real West Coast food - there are few burgers that are quite as delicious as an In N Out burger!!
We also enjoyed visiting the SLC temple and the square. I took this photo as the sun was setting and I think it looks so pretty!! The Salt Lake temple is so beautiful!! Hartford, CT is getting a temple soon. The construction is completed and they are just working on getting it ready on the inside for the Open House which will be happening this fall! Can't wait!!
As we were driving trough Yellowstone on our way to Grandma's cabin for the family reunion, we drove past a large mother and cub Grizzly. You can't see the cub in this pic, (he was hiding behind mom) but traffic was backed up for a good 15 minutes with everyone pulling over to take pictures of this beauty. The pic makes it seem like she is super far away, but really the two bears were only about 15 yards (if that) away!
We did some horseback riding in the mountains (definitely my favorite) and this little foal let me give her a hug and posed for the picture! It was so beautiful and relaxing to ride in the Montana wilderness!!!
The whole time we were there, Rich was being OBSESSED with fishing. He couldn't stop thinking about and it was all he ever talked about or asked. So he did plenty of that. This was one of the bigger guys he caught.
It wouldn't be a trip to the wilderness without building an enormous bonfire. We have yet to find somewhere here in CT that will allow us to camp/bonfire without charging an arm/leg or your first born child. So it was refreshing to sit around the fire and roast smores.
Rich built that fire and as you can see from his singed eyelashes (he has dang long ones!!) and eyebrows he got a tad too close!
As you know I lost my job prior to our trip. So I have been searching for something new. One of the good things about Wilton is that they have a community facebook page called the Wilton CT 411 - it's actually super great because you can put all kinds of posts up. People will ask for a good plumber..what to do on weekends...where to buy good gardening gloves....stuff like that. So I posted that I was looking for work and a bunch of people were biting. I interviewed with several places - one being a lingerie store - which to my surprise was actually really beautiful and it was pretty hard to turn down the job. I met with another family in Wilton who wanted me to be there after school nanny and then another woman who wanted me to be an after school cooking teacher! I ended up accepting the teaching position (go figure) and I am pending on the after school nanny position. I will be able to work with them more once I figure out which days I will/won't be teaching.
The job doesn't start until school starts, which isn't until after Labor Day here, so in the meantime, I have just been babysitting in the ward. I've been tending this really great family - the Winegar family this past week and they really like me - which really made me feel great! The kinds are pre-teen/teenaged so I was a little worried - but I was happy to know that they have really enjoyed me. (they told their parents they liked me haha) And I'm pretty sure the video below explains why haha. The deal was that if I dumped that on myself (which I had no problem doing because it was bloody HOT and I didn't care about the clothes I was wear...although #manilaforever) then I got to dump a bucket on Hugh - their youngest who is 7 going on 8 I think.
Rich's job is going great - he really enjoys what he does. He will be going on a short business trip towards the end of the month. He told me he isn't really looking forward to it because it's a going to be a lot of "networking". He's pretty anti-social sometimes so while it will be fun to "get away" - he will not be enjoying the forced socializing.
Below is how he would live if it weren't for me. hahaa!

We both read the new Harry Potter book (Harry Potter and the Cursed Child) in the past few weeks. I REALLY LOVED IT. It was just refreshing to visit the magical world again. Life as muggles can get pretty boring. And since we both were all hyped up from Harry after reading we decided to make butterbeer. Well, Rich really wanted to make it - I made it once in college and discovered that it is too sweet. He found a recipe online that was supposedly JUST LIKE what they serve in Hogsmeade in the Wizarding World of Harry Potter. Any way we learned (I learned again) that it is TOO SWEET. I'm hoping that the real stuff isn't....we're saving up to take a trip to Orlando to visit this winter hopefully.
The fire alarm went off this past week and these were the two things I "rescued" in case there was a real fire. Bilbo and the new Harry Potter book - you can see where my priorities lie!! haha!
We've also been re-watching all of the Harry Potter movies - we just finished the 4th so we're about halfway through. As we watch each one I think "ok this one is my favorite"!! It's hard to decide. There is something extra magical about the first one....I remember watching it EVERY DAY after school when I was a kid. To this day I still have it pretty memorized.
Bilbo is doing great. He celebrated his FIRST birthday on August 1st. He weighs between 60-70lbs, but is still a pretty small/short dog. So many people told us that they just knew he was gonna be BIG. Rich can lift him up pretty easily (I can lift him up too but it's a lot harder!) and he just takes whatever we do to him. He's a good, good boy and anyone who meets him is truly amazed by it. He is ridiculously smart too! He is a fetch PSYCHO - if we don't take him out to play at least once a day, he whines and whines and acts all needy and follows you around - which is cute, lets be honest.
We are hoping to visit the Boston temple next Saturday and have a little adventure there next week. Hopefully my blog will have a little more excitement in it next time.
-Ta!
